A Party Favor for YOU
I hope you'll try some of the herbal formula I've created just for my treintañera. I'll offer small bottles of the tincture to the first 50 guests or so. Come early to get your own, and consider sharing a little so everyone can have a taste.
Rain, you're crazy. Why are you giving us herbs?
Yes, I'm kinda nerdy about plants sometimes, but I just want to share the fun with you.
Outside of my program at NCNM, I also study herbalism at a lovely school here in Portland. The teachers there (people and plants) have shown me that there are plants for every occasion, not just illness and struggle, but also times of vibrancy and celebration--like a silly coming-of-age party.
So, I'm putting my young herbalism skills to work to prepare a plant-derived tincture designed to help my guests enjoy the party. Some herbs help with warming up after a cold bike ride, or with opening up to new people, or having the vocal stamina to chat over the noise of a boistrous crowd. Of course, there's a lot more to the formula than that, and plants' effects are amplified in crowds so I'm excited to be able to offer herbs for a group experience.

What plants are in the tincture?
Thanks so much for asking!
One fun thing about herbalists is that we talk about plants as though they are personalities--we talk about meeting a plant for the first time, or hanging out with a plant (which is an especially rich experience if you're in the plant's usual habitat, like visiting a friend at their home). So preparing an herbal tincture is like inviting my plant friends to my treintañera.
With that in mind, I've tried to imagine which plants would actually want to come to my party. Here's who I think would work well with a crowd:
Cinnamon
Calamus Root
Orange Peel
Ashwaganda
Hawthorn Berry
St. John's Wort (energetic dose)
Herbally minded friends, let me know what you think!
